2026 GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES

For Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Southeastern Region Chapters and Affiliates

 

The SER Legacy of Light Foundation Mini-Grant Program offers small, flexible grants to support projects that create immediate, meaningful, and measurable benefits for communities in the Southeastern Region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. 

 

Grant Opportunities - Legacy of Light Mini Grants

• Up to ten (10) mini-grants at $500 each (2 Graduate Chapters. 2 Undergraduate Chapters, 2 Philo Affiliates, 2 Rhoer Clubs, and 2 Rhosebud Clubs if applicable) will be awarded for projects that demonstrate meaningful community impact and align with one or more of the Foundations priority funding areas. Mini grants are intended to support projects that can be completed within 3 to 12 months and demonstrate tangible outcomes in a short period of time.

Priority Funding Areas:

Promoting Higher Education by expanding access to post-secondary education, lifelong learning, and educational achievement for women of all ages.

Advancing Technology Education by supporting technology, STEM, digital literacy, and workforce development initiatives for at-risk and underserved youth.

Cultivating Community Service and Development by encouraging volunteerism, civic engagement, leadership development, and programs that strengthen local communities.

Providing Scholarships and Educational Grants to students pursuing post-secondary education, vocational training, certification programs, or other educational opportunities.

Promoting Health and Safety Awareness through educational programs, community outreach, prevention initiatives, and resources that improve the health and well-being of individuals and families.

Supporting Financial Empowerment by providing financial literacy, entrepreneurship, wealth-building, budgeting, homeownership, and economic empowerment workshops for youth and women of all ages.

Eligibility - Applicants must:

​

• Be a chapter or affiliated group/club in good standing within the Southeastern Region.

• Use grant funds solely for charitable or educational purposes.

• Implement the funded project during the 2026 grant cycle.

• Agree to submit a final impact report by the required deadline.

Grant Applications Process:

• Applications will be accepted via the submission portal below from August 1 – August 31, 2026

• Award Recipients will be announced by September 30, 2026.

Grants will be awarded in October and announced on the Foundation’s Facebook page, website and the Southeastern Region Newsletter.

The Legacy of Light Foundation grant application must be submitted electronically via the application form found on this page. The following rules apply to the qualification and submission of a grant application:

​

• Only one application per chapter may be submitted for consideration for chapter projects.

• Affiliates (Rhoers, Rhosebuds, and Philos) of a graduate chapter can submit one application per chapter per club.

• After receiving a Southeastern Legacy of Light Foundation Grant, the recipient must wait at least one year from submitting their final report before applying for another grant. Grant cycles will be announced annually.

• All grant recipients must use the money for the intended purpose described in the application

• All recipients must submit a final report with photos 30 days after the event. Mail reports to serlolfvicepresident@gmail.com

 

For this program, short-term impact means clear, measurable improvements achieved within three to 12 months of funding. Successful projects should show immediate benefits, such as increased access to services, improved knowledge or skills, enhanced community engagement, or direct assistance to individuals and families.
